To get a Beta particle released a neutron is converted to a proton and a electron. The mass number does not change because an electron is removed. The atomic mass increases because a proton is gained. A gamma particle does not cause a change in mass or atomic number because it has no mass and is made up of photons. Answer is A • 20. Fission is splitting of a nucleus into two smaller nuclei and fusion is the combining of two smaller nuclei into 1 larger nucleus. Answer is B.
