French Exploration • After Spain, it was France. • Original goal: Find gold and discover Northwest Passage that connected Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. • Arrived in 1524…where? • French explorers forged a decent relationship with Natives based around fur trade all down to New Orleans. • But…diseases, alcohol, guns… • Dutch and French colonization begin next unit…
