The Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program • REMP Ensures that the OPPD Nuclear Power Plant is not Emitting Radioactive Elements into the Environment through Area Sampling • REMP is also Responsible for the Maintenance of the Wastewater Lagoon Photo by Tim Dukarski • Other Responsibilities Include Endangered Species Conservation, Invasive Species Monitoring, & Grassland Restoration
Objectives of the Independent Study • Complete General Employee Training • Understand the Purpose of REMP • Participate in Environmental Sampling • Assist in Sanitary Lagoon Operations Photo by Tim Dukarski • Install Biofouling Hotels for Invasive Species • Create Employee Awareness Placards for Evasive Species Hazards • Learn Importance of Administrative Duties • Participate in On- and Off-site Prairie Grass Restoration
Personal Achievements • Learned Importance of Following Nuclear Plant Procedures, Regulatory Requirements, Station Operations, & the Purpose of REMP Photo by Tim Dukarski • Learned the Dangers of Invasive Species and Shared Gained Information with OPPD Employees • Designed a Wastewater Land Application Workbook • Learned how to Adequately Perform Environmental Sample Collecting and Preparation for Analysis
