  2. The People • Ireland’s population is 6,222,462. • The language spoken in Ireland is English and Galetacht. • The age expectancy for Ireland is 78.24 years.

  3. Geography • The capital city of Ireland is Dublin. • It’s major rivers are River Suir, River Nore, River Barrow, and much more. • Their major lakes are Lough Erne and Lough Corrib. • Ireland’s climate is usually precipitation.

  4. Culture • Their religion is Roman Catholicism. • Ireland’s #1 holiday is St. Patrick’s Day. • The people in Ireland basically wear the same clothes as us. • They eat lamb, ham, turkey, and oysters most of the time. They drink beer and wine most of the time too.

  5. Economy • Ireland’s money is Euros. • Their major exports are equipment, computers, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and live animals. • Their major imports are fuel, coal, oil, and soybeans.

  6. Government • The type of government in Ireland is republic, parliamentary democracy. • The current president is Mary McAleese.

  7. Landmarks • Ireland’s most important landmark is the Dublin Castle. • It is located off Dame Street, Dublin. • Dublin Castle is important to the people of Ireland because it has been through so many bad things and it is still there.

  8. Facts 1. The flags colors are green, orange, and white. 2.Ireland’s flag is very interesting. The green part represents the native people of Ireland. The orange represents the British supporters of William of orange who first settled in Northern Ireland in the 17th century.The white represents the peace between the two groups.
