forbidding • Adj. -Something that is dangerous or threatening • Synonyms-hostile, grim, bleak, unfriendly, dismal • The abandoned house was forbidding and dark, so Olivia walked a different way home from school.
battlement • Noun- a defensive structure at the top of a castle wall used for shooting intruders. • The knights climbed to the top of the battlement as the enemies approached the castle.
guardian • Noun-a person who guards, protects, or preserves • Synonyms-protector, caretaker • My aunt was appointed guardian of the estate.
chaos • Noun- a state of confusion or disorder • Synonym-disorder, bedlam, pandemonium, commotion • It was complete chaos when the tigers escaped from the zoo.
heir • Noun-a person who inherits or is entitled to get something from another. • Synonyms-successor, recipient, beneficiary • Prince William is heir to the British throne.
