Employee State Insurance Scheme • This is a unique beneficial self financing scheme in which every contribution is a benefactor & beneficiary
Motto of the Scheme • This Scheme provides comprehensive medical cover and cash benefits in the contingencies of sickness, maternity, disablement and the death due to injury to the insured persons and their dependant
Coverage • The establishment which is employing more than 10 persons and using power for his manufacturing process.OR • The establishment which is employing more than 20 persons and not using power for his manufacturing process • Then only applicable for ESIC Registration
Applicability • This scheme is applicable to those who is drawing the salary not exceeding Rs. 10000- p.m. • All the allowances except washing, conveyance allowance would be consider as a wages for the purpose of applicability of the Act.
Contribution • Employee Contribution – 1.75% of the Wages • Employers Contribution – 4.75% of the Wages • All these contribution deposited in ESI Fund and utilize for payment of Cash Benefit to the Insured Person.
Contribution Period 1st April to 30th September. 1st October to 31st March Periodicity • Benefit Period • 1st January to 31st June • 1st July to 31st December
Benefits To Employer • Employer exempted from the applicability of the ESIC for • Medicare facility • Maternity Benefit Act. • Workmen’s Compensation Act
Benefits to Employee • Medical Benefit • Sickness Benefit • Maternity Benefit • Temporary Disablement Benefit • Permanent Disablement Benefit • Dependant’s Benefit
Sickness Benefit • Employee will get 50 % of Wages for the sickness period(3 months contribution paid) • Employee will get medical treatment, medicines.
Disablement Benefit • Temporary Disablement –Approximate 70% of the wages • Permanent Disablement – Depends upon the loss of Earning Capacity. • All the above benefit starts from the date of membership
Maternity Benefit • Minimum 2 Return of Contribution period should be completed to get the maternity benefit • 12 weeks full wages + medical treatment
Funeral Expenses • The nominees will get Rs. 2500 for the expenditure of Funeral of member
Dependant’s Benefit • To widow for life or until remarriage • To legitimate or adopted son or unmarried daughter till the age of 18
Medical Benefit • Full medical facility including hospitalization for member and his family from the date of membership
Medical Benefit after retirement • If the member has completed the 5 years membership before the retirement will get full medical care benefit on the payment of Rs. 10 p.m.is paid in advance for one year
Coverage to Dependant • Spouse • Children(age below 18) • Father and Mother • Those who are dependant on the income of the insured person
Administrative Procedure • Filling up the ESIC Declaration Form • 2 Family Photo Graph Required for the Card • Form submission to ESIC Office. (Form should be submitted within in 10 days from the date of joining) • Collect Temporary Card from ESIC and the same is to be issued to member. • Collect Permanent Card from ESIC and issued to the member
