Background • Xgrid (Apple ACG - January 6, 2004)A collection of software that enables users to aggregate an ad hoc network of Macintosh computers into a loosely-coupled computational cluster, or “grid,” of systems. The software enables a user to deploy jobs across an active grid, or to simply participate in that grid by volunteering his or her processor time. It enables highly parallel jobs to be divided and processed concurrently on multiple systems.
