DATA STORAGE Data can be understood and interpreted by any user. This requires clear and detailed data description, annotation and contextual information.
DATA STORAGE A combination of gaining consent for data sharing, anonymising and regulating access to data will increase the potential for making peoplerelated research data more readily and widely available.

GREEN IT INFRASTRUCTURE Real results and increased efficiency from the front office to the data centre Green computing or green IT, refers to environmentally sustainable computing or IT. “the study and practice of designing, manufacturing, using, and disposing of computers, servers, and associated subsystems—such as monitors, printers, storage devices, and networking and communications systems—efficiently and effectively with minimal or no impact on the environment.“ Research continues into key areas such as making the use of computers as energy-efficient as possible, and designing algorithms and systems for efficiency-related computer technologies.
GREEN IT INFRASTRUCTURE Sustainable energy is the provision of energy that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainable energy sources are most often regarded as including all renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectricity, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, bioenergy. It usually also includes technologies that improve energy efficiency. Green energy includes natural energetic processes: geothermal power, wind power, small-scale hydropower, solar energy, biomass power. File:Solar Array.jpg

RESEARCH GREEN TOPICS The efficient management of data centers: Power, cooling and other operational considerations Strategies for maximizing the use of data centers while maintaining low power usage. City of London infrastructure considerations Managing high-performance computing with power and cooling constraints in the data center. Building large data centers with lowest possible recovery time. Technological innovation: Where are data centers headed in the three- to five-year time horizon? Managing trading floor energy consumption Handling the expansion in trading floor size with the need to be energy efficient. Trading floors and data centers: How far can they be situated and how distance can vary based on technology in place. Disaster management: maximizing capacity whilst minimizing recovery time.
