Big Nine Timeline • FEBRURARY 2005: Clio is invited the join the Metro Conference and announces their intentions to leave the Big Nine for 2005-06 school year • OCTOBER 2005: Swartz Creek accepts previous offer to join the Metro Conference and leaves the Big Nine for 2006-07 school year • SEPTEMBER 2006: Due to the uncertain future of the Big 9, Owosso announces it’s intention to join the Capital Area Activities Conference for the 2007-2008 school year • APRIL 2007: All six existing Big Nine schools apply to the Metro Conference • JUNE 2007: The Metro Conference votes to expand to ten schools • SEPTEMBER 2007: Kearsley is invited to apply to the Metro Conference
What the Big Nine has done • Recruited numerous schools in an attempt to have other schools join the Big 9 (Saginaw Nouvel, A.A. Huron, Lake Orion) • Met with reps from the Saginaw Valley Conference • Had multiple meetings with representatives from Metro and GAC schools about a “Mega” Conference • All Big 9 schools have applied to the Metro Conference
Mr. Russ Beagle • Graduated from Kearsley in 1976 • Former KHS Varsity Baseball coach for eight years • Currently teaches Social Studies at KHS and coaches JV Football
Mr. Tim Phipps • Graduated from Kearsley in 1984 • Current KHS Physical Education Teacher • Coaches Varsity Baseball and Freshmen Football • Spent 15 years in the Metro Conference as a teacher/coach at Lapeer East High School
