M.A.B.A.S. History • M.A.B.A.S. formed in 1969 by NW Suburban Fire Departments as an improved method to provide a mutual aid system to agencies in need. • The Central Cook-DuPage Mutual Aid Association joined the M.A.B.A.S. system in the early 1980’s. Definitions • NIFERN (Northern Illinois Fire Emergency Radio Network) • Mutual aid frequency for fire service agencies.
