Purpose: • To raise awareness of Children in Care and the impact on their education • To provide an overview of the responsibilities of the Governing body

Promote the educational achievement of LAC in schools Through – • Strategic leadership within school • The role of the Designated Teacher for Looked after Children – incl. specific professional development • Improved coordination: within school and with external agencies in relation to school transfer.
Indicators which demonstrate that the role is being implemented efficiently and is making a difference • Closing the Gap – The school has a clear overview of the educational needs and progress of CiC on roll;
The school’s policies are effective in reflecting the needs of CIC; • Resources are allocated to support the DT to carry out this role effectively for the benefit of the child.
