  2. Why kindness matters . . . • Bullying has reached epidemic proportions. • 1 in 5 kids are being bullied. • 160,000 kids stay home each day because of bullying. • Bullying can result in low self-esteem, depression, drugs, gang involvement, and more.

  4. Character Counts • Teaches Respect • Encourages quality friendships • Provides a chance to talk about feelings • Builds positive self esteem • Promotes positive thinking • Reinforces helping others and teamwork

  6. Respect • Treat others with respect • Follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant of differences • Use good language • Consider consequences • Be peaceful
