New York State’s Border Infrastructure • New York has 17 land border crossings and four rail only border crossings. • Three of the ten largest crossings with Canada in terms of all trade: • Buffalo-Niagara Falls (3rd) • Champlain – Rouses Point (4th) • Alexandria Bay (9th) • New York crossings carried 22% of the value of all trade with Canada. New York State’s Border Infrastructure • New York State was the top U.S. destination for Canadian travelers. • New York State accounted for the most tourism travel to Canada • 517,000 jobs directly tied to cross-border trade in New York in 2010 • More than 70 percent of the Canadian/US trade that crossed New York State’s borders had an origin or destination in another state.
