It is an applied social science that helps individuals to learn about themselves, about their environment and ways to handle their roles & relationships effectively. • Research estimates that between 40 to 50 % of students exhibit emotional and behavioral problems which need special attention of the teacher as a mentor or role model. • Teachers are in an ideal position to identify students’ concerns and their impact on health, performance and behavior. Hence, they can help students handle these issues adequately and on time before they turn into complex, self-defeating behaviors or pose hazards to their mental health.
