What do we mean by transition? • The process by which we move from current provision to flexible New Deal (fND) • We’re not just re-contracting, we’re; • Amending processes • Revisiting Management arrangements • Training • Providing customer awareness • Interim provision control, etc.
Key priorities in transition: • Provision for jobseekers • Managing current provision • Jobcentre plus performance and capacity • Ensuring fND is a success
What is the impact on existing provision?: • From April 2009, new jobseekers will undergo the revised JSA regime before being referred to an fND provider • We are developing a strategy for the period April to September 2009 • Need the details of impact on customer facing provision – not just contracts but all aspects
Ongoing Work: • Transition team established and led by WWEG (John Tiplady) & will develop strategy once agreed with senior DWP boards • CEP will work through John and his team • Hoped to have mapped impacts on existing provision by the end of August (note: not likely before end of September) • Will hold provider event asap to discuss the impact results and how we progress in transition
How will CEP work with providers? • Key contacts: • Peter Thornber – 07920 783266 • Matthew Barker – 0114 260 1633 • Paul Maude – 0114 260 1707 • Anna Paxton – 0114 260 1630 • Issues/questions to one of the team via Anna Paxton by telephone or Anna.paxton@dwp.gsi.gov.uk
