APPLE Conference- Review • Goals: Educate, Empower, Support teams in preventing alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) use/abuse • Emphasis on the power and importance of the student-athlete point of view • Provided education on ATOD and related health/performance issues • Speakers on topics including: Impact of ATOD on performance, Drunk driving, Bystander intervention and more • Create customized action plan for NAU Athletics

  3. APPLE Conference- Review • APPLE Slices: • Recruitment • Education • Expectations & Attitudes • Policies • Drug Testing • Sanctioning • Referral & Counseling

  4. APPLE Conference- Action Plan • Create student-host training program for 2014-15 official and unofficial visits • Create post-visit evaluation for PSAs to complete • Work with NAU to gather social norms data • Identify areas of education that can be improved and initiate Poster Campaign for 2014-15 • Bring speaker(s) to campus in September 2014 and possibly again in January 2015

APPLE Conference- Next Steps • Recruit additional members to our team • Work on bringing action plan to life • Hold March meeting with new team members and discuss Recruitment (host training and post-visit evaluation) • Work with Health Promotions to begin gathering social norm data to spearhead Poster Campaign efforts • Secure grants

  6. APPLE Conference- Join us! • Make an impact • Help to make positive change for all of us • Access to athletic directors and assistants for improved communication • Help NAU win more by making educated choices!
