  3. Exposition • a setting forth of facts, ideas, etc.; detailed explanation • writing or speaking that sets forth or explains • that part of a play, etc. which reveals what has happened before, who the characters are, etc.

  4. Rising Action • series of events that lead to the climax of the story, usually the conflicts or struggles of the protagonist • The part of a drama where the plot becomes increasingly complicated • a related series of incidents in a literary plot that build toward the point of greatest interest

  5. Climax • a rhetorical series of ideas, images, etc. arranged progressively so that the most forceful is last • the final, culminating element or event in a series; highest point, as of interest or excitement; • the decisive turning point of the action, as in a drama

  6. Falling Action / Denouement • the outcome, solution, unraveling, or clarification of a plot in a drama, story, etc. • the point in the plot where this occurs • any final revelation or outcome
