  13. Perineal care • Always proceed from least contaminated area to most • Females – front to back • Males – wash tip of penis and then down shaft • Turn patient over and clean anal area

  14. Anti-embolism stockings • Apply while the person is lying down • Do not massage the legs • Be sure heel is positioned correctly • Pull toes to relieve pressure • Launder PRN
