  3. What is it? • The Paralympics are part of the Olympics for people who are disabled. • There is wheelchair curling and alpine skiing. There is also the biathlon and ice sledge hockey. All of these sports are played in the regular Olympics also.

  4. Who • Caitie Sarubbi is one of the many people competing in the Paralympics. Caitie was born with out eye lids. Only about 13 people in the world are born without them. She will be competing in the alpine skiing event. • Kelly Underkofler is going to be participating in the biathlon in the Paralympics this year. She was born without her lower half of her left arm. Despite that she has always excelled in sports. Caitie Sarubbi Kelly Underkofler

  5. Where • The Paralympics will be in Vancouver this year. • The opening and closing ceremonies will be held indoors at the BC Place Stadium. • Some competitions will be held in Whistler, a ski village. BC Place Stadium

  6. When • The Paralympics will go from March 12 to March 21. • The Opening Ceremony will be held on March 12 at 6:00 PM and the Closing Ceremony will be held on March 21 at 7:30 PM.

  7. Why • The Paralympics are part of the Olympics so that people who are disabled still have a chance to become great at a sport. • If somebody loved sports and then they got injured for the rest of their life, then they still have the opportunity to play sports.

  8. How • There is five different sports in the Paralympics; wheelchair curling, alpine skiing, biathlon, ice sledge hockey and cross country skiing. • Wheelchair curling is exactly like regular curling except the people are in wheelchairs. You can either slide a rock or pushed by a stick. You try to hit on to the target.
