Why is EDGE important? EDGE is a better way of providing training which allows the participants to practice and gain self-confidence through hands-on training experiences. Essentially, it teaches you how to train other Scouts and Scouters. As of January 1st, 2010, EDGE is now required for all scouts working toward their Tenderfoot and Life ranks. This ranges from teaching a square knot as a Tenderfoot to teaching first aid, cooking, or camping as a Star Scout. 2
