  1. OTTAWA DIAMOND FLOORING

  2. Hardwood is known as the most beautiful, durable, long-lasting, and expensive flooring material. Since replacing hardwood flooring is a bit difficult and pricey (yes, even hardwood discount flooring Ottawa are more expensive than other flooring materials), you need to keep it well-maintained. Aside from giving value to your house, hardwood flooring can also make your home look more beautiful and stunning. Hardwood is also durable, long-lasting, easy to maintain, and sustainable that is why despite its price, many homeowners still prefer it over other types of flooring materials. Let's face it, some portions of your house receive more foot traffic than the others. Areas like your kitchen, floors leading to the garage door, comfort room and back door, entryways, and doorways are among those that get more foot traffic. And because of this, the hardwood flooring in these significant areas get easily worn out as compared to other parts of the house. This makes maintaining your entire house's flooring challenging. How To Keep Hardwood Floor On High Traffic Areas Away From Scratches And Damages

  3. Here are the things that you can do to prevent your hardwood floor from having any scratches, stains, and other damages. • Use runners or rugs and rug mats on high traffic areas. This can help your floor get rid of dents and scratches. Rugs and rug mats are a must in the kitchen and in areas where the floor is more prone to water spills. Do not use cleats or high heeled footwear inside your house. Instead, remove them before you enter the house. This may sound annoying and tiresome but doing so will do you a favor. Not only will this simple gesture help you avoid damaging your floor, it can as well save you money in restoring the hardwood and time in cleaning.

  4. High traffic areas are also among those parts of your home that require more maintenance and cleaning. When cleaning your hardwood floor, avoid using harsh or abrasives chemicals like Pledge, powdered all-purpose cleaner, vinegar, oil soap, dish washing detergent, ammonia, and other kinds of silicone or wax base cleaning products as these can be dangerous to your hardwood flooring. • Also, avoid using steam mops. If using water or steam can't really be avoided, at least limit the degree of use. Steam mops and water can damage the surface of your flooring, not to mention the high heat that can thermally break down the protective layer of the floor in the long run.

  5. If you need to transfer heavy appliances or furniture, remember not to drag them. Instead, lift it off of the floor. • Protect your floor from the legs of your furniture by not leaving them without protective pads. Unprotected furniture legs will not only damage your floor, it will as well harm the wood and the finish. • If you have pet dogs or cats, be sure to trim their nails every now and then. Dogs and cats normally enjoy scratching the floor. If left untrimmed, your pet's nails will be one of the reasons why your floor will look old, unattractive, and damaged. • Cleaning the outside area of your house may seem to have no connection with maintaining your hardwood flooring. Believe it or not, by cleaning the outside part of your house, you are preventing unwanted debris, dirt, and dust particles from entering your house. These particles can cause surface scratches.
