New Programme OfficersFollowing Annual Conference – two key appointments: Kay Richmond (formerly Chairman of UKPAC) is now the Federation Programme Director Liz Dominey (formerly Programme Action Officer – Southern Region) is now Chairman of UKPAC
Highlights from Annual Conference Barbara Dixon - presentation on the Soroptomist Alphabet: 3 A’s – Awareness, Advocacy & Action 3 E’s – Educate, Empower & Enable 5 P’s – People – Goals 1,2,3,4 & 5 Planet – Goals 6,12, 13, 14 & 15 Prosperity– Goals 7,8, 9, 10 & 11 Prevention (Peace) – Goal 16 Partnerships – Goal 17
Highlights from Annual Conference • The 5P’s are the key areas the Unites Nations wishes to focus on. • So the question is do we need to concentrate our efforts on the following 5 goals?: • Goal 4 – Quality Education • Goal 5 – Gender Equality • Goal 6 - Clean Water & Sanitation • Goal 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth • Goal 13 – Climate Action
Highlights from Annual Conference We also received presentations from: • Hafdis Karlsdottir on the SI President’s Appeal – Women, Water & Leadership • SI Board on the work of the UN Offices • All of the Associate Programme Directors – Education, Economic Empowerment, Environmental Sustainability, Food Security & Healthcare and Violence & Conflict Resolution • Kay Richmond on the Modern Day Slavery Survey in the UK and the Caribbean
Highlights from UKPAC(UK Programme Action Committee) • Meeting was held in Solihull on 10th November • First meeting chaired by Liz Dominey • Federation President, Sue Williams, & Vice President, Isobel Smith, Kay Richmond, Federation Programme Director all present • Good meeting with lots of interaction between everyone present
Highlights from UKPAC(UK Programme Action Committee) President Sue spoke about: • Her theme for the year ‘Think on it’ – supporting Mental Health for women • New SIGBI website currently under construction • The format of the Programme Focus Forms
Highlights from UKPAC(UK Programme Action Committee) Kay Richmond recommended clubs to consider having 5 projects: • One club • One regional • One UKPAC • One Federation • One Soroptimist International
Programme Focus Forms • Number of reports submitted by each region for the period 1 June and 1 October was revealed at UKPAC • SISEE came half-way in the field at 45 out of 71 – we averaged just over 11 per month • SISEE figures for 1 October to 30 November was 28 – increase on average of 4 per month • It is important to complete the forms as soon as possible as they provide vital and timely information to the United Nations
