  1. 1 Ziptrack Apparatus y • Ziptrack beam rests on two manipulators (brown and orange things) • Cart sits on silver beam which holds the Hall probe • Cart moves along the beam (z), manipulators move the beam in (x,y) x z z z Ben Freemire, Terry Hart, 01/14/09

  2. 2 Current Plotting Dialogue y x z z z • Input raw data from Hall probe • Plot dialogue developed, shown at left • Plot Bx, By, Bz in (x,y), (x,z), (y,z) planes • Specify number bins in plot, output plot type • Plots saved as ROOT files, can be .ps or .eps files • Physics checks (Maxwell) under development • Documentation to be written • Lots of options, flexibility Ben Freemire, Terry Hart, 01/14/09

  3. 3 2D Plots from Test Dipole Magnet • Dipole field along x • z along Ziptrack beam, beam with Senis Hall probe shifts along (x,y) • (see previous slides) • 208 counts/gauss • Dipole field Bx • -350,000 counts ~ -0.175 T • Measurements are reasonable Ben Freemire, Terry Hart, 01/14/09

  4. 4 Further Goals and Schedule • Debug plotting features • Implement Maxwell checks ( x B,   B = 0). • Doug Jensen has Fortran routines to be used as a basis • Check consistency by comparing test magnet data taken from probes for MICE (NIKHEF) and MIPP (Senis) • Ziptrack MIPP’s Jolly Green Giant ready mid-February • Solenoid 2 scheduled to ship late February Ben Freemire, Terry Hart, 01/14/09
