Recruitment Efforts • Current Capacity • About 30 students/year on campus • About 30 in off-campus cohorts each year • 60 students actively in major on campus • 140 in pipeline awaiting admission to major on campus • Recruitment Efforts • High schools • Paraprofessionals • Emergency hires; charter, public, and private residential treatment schools
Outreach Programs • Distance, Web-Enhanced, Hybrid, and Online Course offerings • Designed for working teachers and paraprofessionals • Concurrent MEd in Curriculum and Instruction is possible
Project PRIME • SEA/LEA/IHE partnerships • In its 6thyear • Funded through an IDEA subgrant • Primary charge is to prepare teachers in charter schools, but public school teachers are also in this program • Instructional coaching provided
SEA/LEA/IHE Partnerships • Frequent meetings with Ogden, Davis, and Weber School Districts to discuss curriculum • Student Success Alliance • Formation of additional cohort of charter school participants housed at Spectrum Academy • Coursework for USOE ARL candidates as needed
Outcomes for Participants • 71 participants have completed and are now employed as special educators in public or charter schools • Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC) used for distance learning in Moab, St. George, Roosevelt, and Utah County • No need to matriculate in the Med program • Cohort format provides support • Currently 2 cohorts totaling 31 participants
Outcomes for Students • Curriculum aligned to Utah Core Standards, UETS, and CEC provides quality indicators • Current evidence-based practices • Emphasis on progress monitoring and data-driven decisions • Curriculum Based Assessment methodology in Mathematics, Reading, and Written Expression
