  2. A Sentence in a nutshell • Then just add modifiers!

  3. Basic Simple Sentence • All lines need to be drawn as shown to demonstrate your understanding.

  4. A Word about Prepositional Phrases… • Placement will depend on what question the phrase is the answer to: • Which one? - ADJ • How? • When? • Where? ADV

  5. Compound Subject • The same type of construction is done in compound verb or compound objects.

  6. Linking Verbs Pay attention to the slant of the line!

  7. Compound Sentences • Diagram independent clauses as normal and connect verbs with dotted line with the conjunction (FANBOYS)

  8. Diagram the following: • A major festival in India is the Festival of Lights. • This holiday is celebrated by making lamps, and it also includes a cooking spree. • In June of 1983, Sally K. Ride became the first American woman to orbit the earth.
