Three Things That Will Help to Reduce Stress in Divorce Proceedings

Family solicitors are specially trained in family law. They’ve also seen many matters pass through the court, and as such are much more likely to have a well-rounded view of divorce. In other words, they’re less likely to be prejudice against you.

  1. Three Things That Will Help to Reduce Stress in Divorce Proceedings Divorce is never easy. It’s not something that most of us think about on our wedding day – well, we might think about it, but we’re hoping beyond hope that it never happens to us. However, there is quite a high likelihood of it happening. Around 1 in 3 marriages in the UK ends in divorce – don’t let this scare you too much though, because some of those figures are actually carried out by repeat offenders. http://www.owenwhitecatlin.co.uk/

  2. If the worst does happen (or maybe you think it’s the best?), then it can be extremely stressful. It’s often the case that you will lose some quality of life. Both partners often lose out on the money and security of two people’s income, and often, one of the pair loses out much more than the other does. It is extremely stressful, but there are a few things that you can do to make the process easier. We’re going to explore three of these below. 1.Get legal advice as early as you can: no matter how well you get on, and whether you’ve fallen out or not, you should both get legal advice as soon as possible. It’s highly likely that something will arise in the future that can set you both against each other, but by getting advice early, you can help to foresee these issues and talk about them with your spouse before they arise. This way, when they do arise, it’s likely that you’ll both be prepared. http://www.owenwhitecatlin.co.uk/

  3. 2.Always use mediation when offered: when mediation is offered you must always take it. If you don’t, the other person’s solicitor will take note of this and they will tell any judge about it. This will then make you appear as an unreasonable party in the proceeding, and the judge is likely to frown upon this and will be more likely to favour the other person. You must turn up to all mediation, even if your spouse refuses. Mediation is great anyway, because it allows you to finalise all the points of divorce without even having to see a judge. You work it all out here, and then your solicitor sends off the final agreement to a judge who decides whether or not to grant a divorce. http://www.owenwhitecatlin.co.uk/

  4. 3.Choose a solicitor that you trust: there is nothing worst that working with a solicitor that you feel is not on your side. For example, it can sometimes feel as if your own solicitor favours the other side. They are supposed to be on your side, but in matters of divorce, it’s difficult to remove pre-conceived prejudices. You should choose a family solicitor that is local to you. If you live in Chiswick, for instance, then you need to use family solicitors Chiswick.
