8 • Page 7 • The Committee suggests reassessing the Specified Emergency Power Value since it appears quite Low. GDE Meeting, Beijing, 4-7 February 2007
Emergency Power Value (1) • What should be taken for emergency power needs further consideration • and clear decision at EDR stage • At present stage, we guestimated that following items should be considered: • - Emergency ventilation • - Emergency ligthing • - Emergency drainage pumps • - Alarms and signalling systems • - Access control systems • - lifts GDE Meeting, Beijing, 4-7 February 2007
Emergency Power Value (2) • Steady state consumption is 1.4 MW • Emergency supply system as designed and costed allows for 5 to 10 MW • Inrush current for users requires a factor of 2 to 3 • We suggest to state 3.8 MW in EMER column of power table • hence an overall total of 229.7 MW • However main cost driver is distance rather than power GDE Meeting, Beijing, 4-7 February 2007
9 • Page 8 • Combination of Service Access Shaft and Neighboring Detector Installation ? • Reasons for the Necessity of an Access • Shaft over the Service Cavern for BDS Area. GDE Meeting, Beijing, 4-7 February 2007
Reasons for Necessity of an Access Shaft to the Service Cavern of the BDS Area System • Easy and Direct Access to all Equipment/Components • in Service cavern • Safety Access Required to such a Large cavern • Possibility to Access the Service cavern at all Times • (Shielding not Required) • Specific Crane and Lift in the Service Shaft : no need • for time sharing with one of the Detectors (nearest one) • Direct Access to the BDS Service Tunnel : easier transport • of BDS equipment from the surface • Easier Access to Survey Galleries for Alignment of Machine/Detectors Components • Access to Detectors hall in case of Failure of Lowering Equipment • in the 16 m Diameter Shafts over the Detector Hall • CE Cost : Europe ~ 5.5 MUSD • Americas ~ 10.6 MUSD • Asia ~ 13.7 MUSD GDE Meeting, Beijing, 4-7 February 2007
