  1. 1.Data consistency test for calibration shots: discrepancy for neutron yield2. Request to TRANSP users Recent TRANSP activity

  2. CX calibration shots from 2008 are:77220 (cgiroud, seq. 127), 72283 (jetppf, seq. 524) Bt=2.5T, Ipl=2MA

  3. Plasma profiles at 72283 (56-57s) and 77220 (62.2-62.4s) CXFM/ZFCX CXFM/TICR Ti LIDR/TE LIDR/NE

  4. Wdia and Rn (LIDR/TE,NE, CXFM/TICR,ZFCX) 72283, Wtransp=0.9MJ, Wefit=1 MJ 77220: Wtransp=0.87MJ, Wefit=0.88 MJ Wdia, J EFIT TRANSP Rn TRANSP: 4.7e14 TIN/RNT: 3.e14 TRANSP: 4.8e14 TIN/RNT: 3.1e14

  5. Beam density 72283: NBI4/4,6(75,76keV, 0.85, 0.04,0.12); NBI8/4,6,7(99keV, 0.73, 0.14,0.14) 77220: NBI4/1,6(127,69keV,0.84/0.77, 0.16/0.03); NBI8/1,6,7 (115,100,99keV,0.73-0.75, 0.14-0.15)

  6. Another example: 72818, current ramp up 4/1 8/6

  7. LIDR (or HRTS)/TE is usually broader than ECM1/PRFL ECM1/PRFL, LIDR/TES

  8. KS3/ZEFV & CXFM/ZFCX re-mapped on TRANSP equilibrium

  9. Wdia with LIDR/TE and ECM1/TE EFIT/Wdia TRANSP/LIDR TRANSP/ECE EFIT/WP,WCDI Similar TRANSP/Wdia with CXFM/ZEFC and KS3/ZEFV

  10. DD neutron yield: better agreement with TRANSP when PINI8/6 is applied CXFM/ZFCX KS3/ZEFV TRANSP with LIDR/TE TRANSP with ECM1/PRFL measured Ti measurements Linear interpolation for Ti?

  11. Evolution of beam density with PINI switching nbeam(0) simulated with ECE&LIDAR Beam density at 3.7 & 4.1s NBI4/1(126 keV, 0.77, 0.16), NBI8/6 (109 keV, 0.74, 0.15)

  12. Current profile diffusion: CXFM/ZFCX or KS3/ZEFV TRANSP with LIDR/TE TRANSP with ECM1/PRFL Pnbi Simulations based on neoclassical diffusion are closer to EFIT reconstruction when the LIDR (or HRTS) data are used (not only in this shot) Soft X-ray

  13. Actions proposed • Calibration shots of 2006/2003; • Difference between ECE and Thomson scattering data? • Understanding the neutron yield discrepancy: shots with PINI8/6 in combination with various other beams changing would be useful TRANSP experimental proposal: Different beam energy  test of geometry & cross-section in different energy range? Stationary sawtooth-free plasma, 1s for each PINI 8/1 MSE 8/2 8/3 8/4 etc. CX PINI

  14. Suggestions to accelerate the completion of TRANSP requests: • Please inform TRANSP RO what data you would like to use in your TRANSP run (PPFs, seq. #). Please check the quality of suggested data. • Please inform TRANSP RO when your data (e.g., CHEAP, validated HRTS, bolometry, etc.) are ready for TRANSP. The automatic message about the fulfilled data validation is sent to the person submitted the request, but not to the TRANSP ROs. • If you want to use the data prepared in a non-standard way (merging, re-scaling, combining between different shots, data from other codes, etc.), the preparation of your private PPFs with these data is your responsibility. • The TRANSP RO does not necessarily know what you require in terms of physics from the run – talk to the person doing the run to make sure they do the best for you.
