ANPR • SAIA provided funding for 5 installations at border post or on major roads to border posts • The Hawks Priority Crime Centre has been trained and constant training takes place • The SPAR South Rand roaming vehicle is in operation • A HCI Foundation sponsored roaming vehicle is in operation in Mpumalanga • An additional 11 self funded roaming vehicles are in operation • Funding for a further 3 SPAR shopping centres have been secured Implementation will be completed by June 2011 • 2 tracking companies are sponsoring implementations at toll plazas
ANPR • The system has been implemented at: • Menlyn shopping centre (Gauteng) • Gold Reef City Casino (Gauteng) • Morningside shopping centre. (Gauteng) • Middelburg toll plaza (Gauteng) • Nkomazi toll plaza (Mpumalanga) • Swartruggens toll plaza (North West) • 8 KZN Average speed over distance. (KZN) • Pietermaritzburg safe city (KZN) • Gateway shopping centre (KZN) • 2 SPAR shopping centres in Pretoria (Gauteng) • N1 Hugenote tunnel (Western Cape) • Century City (Western Cape) • Protea-Coin CIT Vehicle. (Gauteng)
Project Status (Future Plans) Short term • Implementation at Carousel Toll Plaza before end of February 2011 • Implementation at Maseru border post before end of April 2011 • Implementation on N1 and N3 end of April 2011 • Data mining of the JIS information for intelligence purposes • Improve SAPS command and control of this project Medium term • Implementation at a further 5 toll plazas • Implementation at a further 50 gated areas • Implementation at a number of FNB branches • Implementations to improve border post control • Implementation at Border posts
