1. ECO INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT IN ANDHRA PRADESH Industrial Parks have become features of global landscape. Andhra Pradesh alone has over 300 industrial parks. The Industrial Parks have with them significant economic, environmental and social impacts. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. (APIIC) is being supported by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) under the Indo-German Bilateral Programme on “Advisory Services in Environmental Management” (ASEM) since the year 2004 for planning and developing ‘Eco Industrial Parks in Andhra Pradesh’. Activities EXPECTED RESULTS DURING 2009 – 2012: New Industrial Parks Upto 3 new Industrial Parks are planned Existing Industrial Parks In upto 30 to 50 existing industrial parks of APIIC, the concepts of eco industrial estates are introduced. Industries in existing Industrial Parks In upto 100 industries environmental performance is improved Environmental quality Improved environmental quality with in upto 30 Industrial Parks and reduced risks/impacts on environment. Capacitydevelopment Upto 100 managers of APIIC (at various levels) are trained on Eco Industrial Estate certificate courses. The interventions in the existing Industrial Parks include: The environmental intervention by APIIC in the pilot project in IP Nacharam and Mallapur included development of storm water drainage of approx. 21 km length, sewerage system of about 22.6 km, award of work to private operator for setting up of CETP, 7.5 km of avenue plantation and setting up of Environment Management Cell in the industrial park. 23.5 km constructed* Total lengthof 22.7 km* Ult. capacityof 8 MLD* 2.900 treesplanted* Hasbeensetup * 42 havebeenheld 2004-2010 11 signageswereput* * in IP Nacharam/ Mallapur, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh
