Solution Fluency Creativity Problem Solving
Solution Fluency in the Classroom Students are given a story problem They define the problem by deciding if it is addition or subtraction. Students will then set up the problem using a number model or symbols. Lastly they will determine a solution and share the process they took to find the outcome.
Information Fluency Accessing Digital Information Effectively Assess Information
Information Fluency in the Classroom During our Non-Fiction writing unit students research an animal of their choice using several internet resources. While researching they answer specific questions pertaining to their animal using online tools such as Wikipedia or National Geographic for Kids. Once all the information is gathered each student determines which information is valuable and then creates a report that is later presented to the class.
Collaboration Fluency Collaboration fluency is teamworking proficiency that has reached the unconscious ability to work cooperatively with virtual and real partners in an online environment to create original digital products (Juke, McCain, Crockett 2011, pg. 66).
Collaboration Fluency in the Classroom Students will work in groups of 3 to research information on a selected season. Students will conduct research using the internet, books, and magazines. Once the research is completed each group will create a one page smart document to share with the class.
Creativity Fluency • The process by which artistic proficiency adds meaning through: • Design • Art • Storytelling
Creativity Fluency in the Classroom During our Social Studies unit on maps each student creates their own town map using a paint program at http://www.abcya.com. Students use shapes, lines, and colors to create their maps. Each map shows the basic features; map key and compass rose. Students then present their maps to the class.
Media Fluency The ability to look analytically at any communication media. The ability to create and publish original digital products.
Media Fluency in the Classroom I would like to create more Media Fluency in may classroom by using tools such as Skype or Face Time to talk to other classrooms in our world.
Digital Citizen All the 21st Century fluencies are learned within the context of the Digital Citizen, using the guiding principles of leadership, ethics, accountability, fiscal responsibility, environmental awareness, global citizenship and personal responsibility (Juke, McCain, Crockett 2011, pg. 66).
Digital Citizen in the Classroom • At the beginning of each year students learn and practice surfing the internet safely. Our librarian shares what sites are safe and user friendly for first graders. • Each child has to sign a user agreement before using the computers.
