  13. Measurable GeneralSpecific To paint my house. To paint four rooms during the first quarter and three during the 2ndquarter of 2013. To improve my work To create 5 new strategies for processes. streamlining my work processes by March 1, 2013.

  14. Achievable • Act in a local production by the end of the year. • Be a star on Broadway in 3 months.

  15. Results Oriented • Establish a Talent Center which will allow Company XYZ to pivot employees to new roles in order to meet business demands. • Ensure production schedule is updated daily in order to guarantee lines have parts and meet consumer demand for products.

  16. Timely • By the end of the reporting period, complete a report of competitor advertising expenses which will allow XYZ to measure competitiveness in the marketplace. • At least twice during the 1st quarter, complete a personal development training course related to communications in order to become a public speaker.

  18. Formula for writing SMART goal To (verb)(subject), by(deadline/timeframe), (Why) Example: To earn an MBA by December of 2015 for the purpose of obtaining a new position.

  20. Action Plans • Planning allows us to think about the steps, resources, and strategies that we will need to achieve each goal.
