PICTURE #5 • Picture URL: see description • Picture Description: This picture will be a (short) series of charts from an article I read, Piccoult and Sexton, but I need to scan it into the computer. • What information will you present to the audience while the above picture is displayed? • I will be talking about the stereotypes and demographics behind the current blood donor population, to establish an existing baseline. Example: Increased donations in women 20-29, those who are educated, Christians, etc. I will choose three such examples and quickly discuss, displaying three charts, each taking approx. 5-10 seconds.
PICTURE #6 • Picture URL: see description • Picture Description: For this, I need to take pictures of the blood drive at Springfield (worse come to worse, it will be possible to use other pictures, but Springfield’s blood drive is preferred). • What information will you present to the audience while the above picture is displayed? • Included in the Piccoult and Sexton study, there is an appendix containing the questions they used to determine the motivations behind donations, specifically altruism, empathy, and social responsibility. I plan on adapting this to create a sort of quiz, and ask Springfield’s donors to please fill it out, and then discuss the results of that experiment.
