Workshop On “Advanced Functional Materials (WAFM-2012)” DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY Varanasi 221005 (INDIA) 19-24 March, 2012 • Department of Physics, Banaras Hindu University is going to organize a six days “workshop on Advanced Functional Materials (WAFM-2012)” during 19-24 March, 2012 under UGC Networking Programme. • AIMS OF WAFM-2012 • To exchange expertise of young researchers among themselves and with experts of different areas of Condensed Matter Physics & Materials Science • To create next generation workforce of professional skills. • METERIALS TO BE DISCUSSED: • Spintronic materials, Spin glass and ferro-fluids; Multiferroic materials; Grapheme; Carbon nanotubes and fullerenes; Dilute magnetic semiconductors; Nanostructures and nanocomposites; Polymer, Colloids and liquid crystals; Quasicrystals; Photonic crystals; Chalcogenides; Materials for fuel cell etc.. • EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES: • TEM; SEM & EDX; STM, AFM, MFM & PFM; X-ray & Neutron Diffraction; XPS; EXAFS; Raman spectroscopy; Dielectric spectroscopy, DSC, DTA & TGA etc. Call for Participation: Applications are invited from Ph.D. students, Post Doctoral Fellows and Young Faculty Members for participation in the Workshop. The interested candidates are requested to apply by email (or by post) giving detailed academic bio-data to the Convener. Ph.D. and post-doc students are required endorsement from the supervisor (by e-mail). The selected candidates will be provided boarding/ lodging and to and fro travel support (SL for students and AC-III for young faculty respectively). The Last date of Application is 15th Feb., 2012.
