  2. UTC’s Role VISION: “Energy and water utilities are in the midst of a period of great challenge, during which telecom and IT will play a critical role. In this context, UTC’s mission is to ensure success for utilities, their telecom/IT professionals, partners, regulators, owners, and customers.” MEMBERS: Energy Companies, Water Utilities and their Trade Associations and Technology Partners. SERVICES: Advocacy – Legislation, Regulation & Standards Education – Conference, Research, News Marketing Channel – Exhibits, Insights, Leads Smart Grid Conference at IT Expo – January 20-21, 2010

UTC ORGANIZATION Extend UTC programs and services to its 10 Regions - the local heart of the organization Advocates, oversees and recommends public policies to benefit UTC members Leads UTC’s efforts to assess value of new technologies and applications Oversees UTC’s Membership Development and Retention, Annual Conference, Research, the UTC Journal and other info. Helps UTC members reduce costs and leverage ICT assets as revenue source Oversees UTC programs for members outside the United States Semi-autonomous groups established within UTC to meet special membership needs.

  4. UTC ORGANIZATION Cont’d Coordination role for key issue (smart networks) and service (frequency coordination) . No fees. Issues focused – BPL and work w/ wireless carriers. Self-funding. Info to all UTC members. Geographically focused. Self-funding. Policy and events are primary activities. Independent Operating Units APTEL, sister org in Brazil. UTC/LA – in development. Self-funding.

PAP 4 - Develop Common Scheduling Communication for Energy Transactions. PAP 5 - Standard Meter Data Profiles. PAP 6 - Translate ANSI C12.19 to the Common Semantic Model of CIM. PAP 7 - Energy Storage Interconnection Guidelines. PAP 8 - Develop Common Information Model (CIM) for Distribution Grid Management. PAP 9 - Standard Demand Response Signals. PAP 10 - Standards for Energy Usage Information. PAP 11 - Interoperability Standards to Support Plug-in Electric Vehicles. PAP 12 - DNP3 Mapping to IEC 61850 Objects. PAP 13 - Harmonization of IEEE C37.118 with IEC 61850 and Precision Time Synchronization. PAP 14 - Transmission and Distribution Power Systems Model Mapping.
