Understanding Consequences and Point Deductions Point Deduction Matrix Students maintaining 100 points will be rewarded for meeting the behavior standards of the school. Students with point values between 90 -100 are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities. Students may earn back points by choosing to serve Overtimeas stated above.
This login chart is a way to track behavior in your classes. • Every trimester, the chart starts over; however, the referrals stay in the system. • Use the code below to help document quickly. • Be sure to begin logging notes into ABI at the “Timeout” stage.
The second login earns the student a “Timeout” to another class. • Everyone must choose a “Timeout” buddy. No more than two people can pick the same partner. • Be sure the “Timeout” returns and that you hang on to it for documentation purposes.
The third login earns the student a teacher detention. • These are double-sheets. The white copy goes home with the student, the yellow stays with you. • Teacher detentions are held at an agreed upon time between you and the student/parents and should be 30 minutes long. • Once the detention is served, mark it in ABI, and turn in yellow copy to me for point deductions.
If a student defaults on a teacher detention, has repeated level 1-2 offenses, or commits a major infraction, complete an Administrative Referral form. • Complete referral form, do a “Save As” into a discipline folder you create on your desktop, and then email me the referral. • Don’t forget to continue documenting in ABI. • I will Google Calendar “invite” you to the Admin. Consequence so you can see the result
We will now be tracking behavior on a points system. Students will have to maintain 90 points or better to remain eligible for school activities. (See Handbook for points breakdown.) • Students can also earn points back by performing some kind of “Overtime” service either at school or out in the community. • When completed, the student will have to fill out and submit their Overtime Verification form. 1 point is earned back for every 30 minutes of service. • Special activities and awards will go to kids who maintain 100 points.
Cellphone/Musical Device Policy Review • When are cellphones/musical devices allowed? • Before and afterschool • iPod Days and for other incentives • During class at teacher discretion • What are the consequences? • 1st Offense - Device is confiscated up to the office and logged into Aeries, a call home is made, and phone is returned to student at end of school day • 2nd Offense – Device is confiscated up to the office and logged into Aeries; parent must pick up device • 3rd Offense – Same as above, but an referral is assigned (consequence depends on prior offenses) • It is NOT the responsibility of the school to search for or replace lost or stolen devices!! • What are the rules? • Cellphones, musical devices, and headphones should be put away and NOT VISIBLE • If they are visible, they will be confiscated up to the office
Dress Code Policy Review • Clothing or accessories that have reference to sex, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, violence, or gang activity may NOT be worn. • Gang-associated dress or accessories may NOT be worn. • Clothing must completely cover all underwear, bra straps, and cleavage. Strapless tops, spaghetti straps or other straps less than 2” wide, low-cut tops, and clothing that show bare midriffs may NOT be worn. • Short shorts and short dresses must measure to the fingertips when standing with arms at sides. • Boys may wear properly sized tank tops; oversized tank tops may be worn if another shirt with sleeves is worn underneath. • Pajamas may NOT be worn unless allowed during designated Spirit Days. • Shoes must be worn on school grounds at all times. Slippers are only allowed during designated Spirit Days. • Hats must be worn forward and straight; caps, hats, and hoods must be removed when inside classrooms and the office (failure to do so after being asked once will result in the headwear being sent to the office and a detention being issued). • Jewelry that is deemed offensive or unsafe (sharp edges, spiked tips, etc.) to either the wearer or other students is not allowed and must be removed or safely covered when asked.
Dress Code Policy Consequences • What are the consequences? • 1st Offense – Student is sent up to the office to change, incident is logged into Aeries, and clothes are returned to student at end of school day. • 2nd Offense – Student up to the office, incident is logged into Aeries, parents are notified, and clothes are returned to student at end of school day. • 3rd Offense – Same as above, but an referral is assigned (consequence depends on prior offenses) If a student’s articles of clothing, jewelry or accessories violate the dress code or in some other way cause disruption to the learning environment, they will be asked to change into a school loaner outfit for the remainder of the day (or until suitable clothes arrive from home). Refusal to wear the loaner clothes will result in an immediate suspension for defiance. Repeated offenses will result in further disciplinary action. The administration reserves the right to decide the appropriateness of the student’s attire and to review and change the dress code to ensure a productive and safe learning environment as necessary.
