Diversity is the existence of individuals with different values, behaviors, approaches and life experiences that are shaped by such attributes as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, age, physical capabilities and appearance, national origin, religion, professional discipline and cultural heritage.
Diversity concerns valuing and fully utilizing the talents and skills of all people through cultural competency, where we develop the ability to recognize and respond to our similarities and differences and make better decisions based on that understanding
Diversity emphasizes using these differences to build effective teams – in the workplace and in the classroom.
