Introduction • Current Cloud Computing standards aimed at Administrators, Developers, IT Managers • Disconnect between the End User’s capabilities and Cloud Provider’s Expectation • Device type (Mobile, Fixed) • Security features • Privacy settings • Project to determine Usability standards for Cloud Consumer/ End User • With NIST’s IAD division’s Usability and Visualization group CHMPR IAB 2012

Objectives • Goal 1: Develop a Reference Architecture for Cloud Usability • Goal 2: Build a taxonomy of Cloud Consumers/ End Users • Studies referred • Survey completed of 40 people on Privacy perception of Online applications • Survey under way of 120 people using social media application (Facebook) CHMPR IAB 2012

  4. Development Approach Broad High Levels of the Ontology identified • Cloud User – expert, novice, standard • Cloud Service – IaaS, SaaS, PaaS • User Devices – Fixed, Mobile • Service Security • Service Privacy • Attacks • Privacy Attack • Security Attack CHMPR IAB 2012

Persona / Use Case • Determine Persona of Cloud End Users • Persona 1: Novice Cloud User • Persona 2: Expert Cloud User • Persona 3: Standard Cloud User • Determine Use Cases • Use Case 1 – Social Media site Hacking • Use Case 2 – Same Cloud-User, Multiple site Hacking • Use Case 3 – Same Cloud-User, Multiple devices to access cloud – including mobile and fixed devices. CHMPR IAB 2012

  6. Evaluation • Will be reviewed by NIST Cloud Computing team • Will be reviewed by NIST Security division. • External reviewers • Will be discussed with the cloud computing working groups CHMPR IAB 2012

  7. Status • Currently developing End User Reference Architecture • Taxonomy under review with NIST cloud computing team/ security team. CHMPR IAB 2012
