Poem • A type of writing that is broken up into lines and stanzas. • Contains strong images and language use • May be written from any perspective or point of view
Monologue • A speech, often in a play, that is a single speaker addressing someone else • Is full of emotion and is delivering a message to the audience (person being spoken to) • Written in prose (sentences and paragraphs) • Written in first person
Eulogy • Speech about someone who has died • Emotional and heartfelt • Pays respect to the person who has passed • Can be written in first person; may never mention “I”
Apology Letter • Letter apologizing for something very specific • Mentions the original offense and explains why the writer is sorry • Offers sincere emotion and regret • Written in first person
Interview • At least two parties – one asks specific questions; the other(s) answer(s) with complete responses • Thoughtful questions and responses • Both questions and answers are written in first person
Diary Entry(ies) • One or more written pieces that describe significant events in the writer’s life • Has specific details and feelings described • Is dated • Single entry should only cover one day’s event, at most • Can be a single entry about a single day/event OR several entries about many days/events • First person
