Latin America • LOCATION: The region of Latin America stretches from Mexico in the Northern Hemisphere to Argentina in the Southern Hemisphere.

Latin America • The region of Latin America is defined by the influence of Spanish & Portuguese culture. • These two languages are the most widely spoken in this region. • Latin is the root of both Spanish & Portuguese • In addition to language the region is heavily influenced by the Roman Catholic religion.
MIXTURE • AFRICAN – Slave Trade • EUROPEAN - Imperialism • NATIVE – Indigenous People • MESTIZO – mix of European & Indigenous
Activity • USE the CIA Factbook to compile statistical data on the economic health of all the countries of Latin America. • MUST use 6 specific economic indicators. • EXAMPLE – GDP per capita (usually in US dollars) • APPLES 2 APPLES
RANK • Now rank the economic health of the countries from 1 to 17. • Give 17 points to the country that you think has the strongest economy. • Work down from 17 until you get to the worst economy in LA which you would give 1 point
