Outcomes Participants will: • Understand background information relevant to the development and current implementation of the Maryland Online IEP tool • Gain a general understanding of tool functionality • Gain awareness of key components of the Maryland Online IEP tool including: • Participation Data • Accommodations • Wizards • Forms • Reports
Background • Partnership between Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education (CTE) • Initiated in 2005-2006 in response to legislative request • July 1, 2007-Statewide IEP form and format • July 1, 2008-Special Services Information System (SSIS) electronic submission from an online tool • The online tool is under continuous development based on feedback provided by LSS user groups and MSDE.
More Background • Currently using the MD Online IEP: • 10 local school systems • Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) • Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) • All nonpublic special education schools in Maryland • State adult correctional facilities • Department of Juvenile Services facilities
