Thursday August 28{TEK: 8; ELPS:4J, 4K} Today you will read a nonfiction piece, then explain the controlling idea and specific purpose by creating an analytical paragraph. • Group Share- Read aloud to your elbow group your homework paragraph. • Class Share- “Rocket Up” and volunteer to read yours aloud to the class (makes a good impression on your teacher!) • Discuss- expository writing, organizational structure, diction, syntax, imagery, figurative language. Add to journal notes to “…Memphis”. • Using yesterday’s group discussion and today’s class discussion, revise your paragraph. Be sure to include specific examples and textual evidence. HOMEWORK!
