  2. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE Students are encouraged to join ASDA each year. Students are informed of the benefits and importance of organized dentistry. A drawing was held, offering each new member the opportunity to win gift certificates, food or an IPod Shuffle.

  3. COMMUNICATION UNLV ASDA works hard to provide members with current information on activities & news. Members receive weekly emails & newsletters. ASDA also has a website: www.unlvasda.org where it provides membership information, a calendar of activities, pictures of recent activities, and an archive of ASDA newsletters.

  6. Improvements in questionnaire correct responses and plaque index at 5-week follow-up visit

  7. SPRING FLING ASDA’s Spring Fling provides an outlet for fun and entertainment to ASDA members and guests. Over 150 ASDA members, guest and faculty attended. Last year’s event had dinner, dancing and drinks. The theme was Casino Royale. Poker and blackjack tables were provided.

  8. G.V. BLACK & WHITE AFFAIR Last year’s G.V. Black & White affair took place at the Black Mountain Country Club. Approximately 100 students & faculty attended.

  9. ISLAND LUAU PARTY This Spring semester’s party was Hawaiian themed completed with a Luau dinner menu, limbo, hula-hoop contest, Twister contest, and ruffles.

  10. Fall Welcome Back Party This fall’s party took place at a VIP suite at Red Rock Resort. Guests enjoyed the outdoor patio, Jacuzzi, pool table, buffet, and private bar.

  11. ASDA provides its members with monthly activities. Barbeques are a favorite choice, as are ice cream socials, tailgating parties, basketball games and volleyball. Each semester ASDA provided a finals breakfast and sack lunches to aid in member’s studies. Monthly activities averaged between 100-150 people.

  12. NATIONAL DENTAL STUDENT LOBBY DAY • UNLV ASDA Chapter sent two dental students to Washington D.C. for National Dental Student Lobby Day. • We met with representatives from every Nevada representative and senator’s office, including: • Representative Dina Titus • Representative Dean Heller • We highlighted the need Nevada has for increased access to care and the community service projects sponsored by UNLV School of Dental Medicine. • We would like to have a State Lobby Day • Working with the NDA we would like to spend a day in Carson City lobbying for positive Dental Legislation.

  13. Southern Nevada Dental Society Mentorship Program • With the help of the SNDS we have created a great Dentist – Student Dentist Mentorship Program • Kick off dinner where students and Mentors are assigned to each other • Students then work with their mentor throughout the year through observing, dental practice advice, and attending SNDS monthly dinner meetings

  14. LUNCH & LEARNS Each month ASDA Sponsors Lunch and Learns, providing ASDA members the opportunity to learn about important ASDA issues, services, products and opportunities available upon graduation. ASDA provides lunch at each meeting. Attendance averages around 100 students.

  15. Twice a year vendors line the halls of UNLV presenting there products and services. 30 vendors attended the most recent vendor fair this semester. VENDOR FAIRS
