Career Pathways Initiative Successes • Student success rate is more than 10 points higher than other community college students (Students completed or retained from Fall to Fall) • More than 27,500 adults served • More than 24,600 certificates and degrees awarded to date • Entered Employment goal met when matched to Unemployment Insurance Data • Recognition and Awards – 2012 • Identified as 1 of 10 Most Promising Pathways programs in nation • Selected as member of Career Pathways Alliance (CP Alliance), a two-year national-level CLASP initiative • Chosen as 1 of 2 Innovative Ideas with $10,000 award by Evans School of Public Affairs, University of Washington
Perkins Technical, Career Education • Perkins Postsecondary • $2.7M to 26 schools • 33 percent to salaries, 31 percent for equipment • Retention 101 • Funds for reps from 9 schools plus ADHE staff to attend workshop; statewide planned for January ’13 • 3-5 schools to be funded for on-site technical assistance in ’13 • Supply Chain Technology Education • 3 regional meetings in partnership with AEDC • 77 participants – education, business, govt • 1 final meeting in Central Arkansas Nov. 28 • Recommendations to be made following that meeting
Perkins Technical, Career Education • Professional Development • Series of webinars on topics such as • Use of social media for student retention • Faculty use of screencasting with Camtasia software to improve classroom instruction • Use of Google suite tools • Monthly technical assistance webinars for coordinators • Perkins Reauthorization • May decide to transfer to ACE director • Expect focus to be on • Alignment between high schools and colleges via rigorous programs of study and statewide articulation agreements • Attainment of industry-based credentials • Placement in employment • Revisions in funding methodology • Increased role for business, industry

College Access Challenge Grant (CACG • U.S. DoE program awards all 50 states, with grants ranging from $1.5M to $15M • Renewable up to five years – ending in FY1 • Arkansas has received $1.5M for FY13 • Used to target students in the state’s underserved/low-income Tier 4 counties and associated school districts • Supports with training, other materials the Arkansas Workforce College and Career Coaches who serve 56 school districts in 21 counties • Say Go College, UTeach, non-traditional marketing campaign are state’s largest projects using CACG Funds
