He is best known for the famous Percy Jackson series and his new series the Kane chronicles. • He lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and two kids. • He has written some novels for adults including Tres Navarre, which has won the top three awards for the mystery genre.
Setting • The setting of The Lost Hero takes place at multiple places. • One of these places are at the Grand Canyon were they first start out. • Another place is at camp halfblood where they are taken to for their safety. • They have to go to the palace of the north wind god to get information about were there friend is. • They have to go to Monocle Motors to fight some Cyclops, Medea’s shop where they got mesmerized, Midis’ palace where they almost all turned to gold, Mount Diablo where they fought against the giant Enceladus to save Piper’s dad, and finally they had to go to the wolf house to save the queen of the gods Hera.
Characters Piper • Piper is a courageous girl. She is a daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love, and a huge part on the quest that she went on later in the book. She needs to make a huge decision on the quest, killing her friends and saving her dad who is in peril, or risking her dad’s death to go on with the quest. Leo • Leo is very talented at making anything. He is so good at making things because he is the son of Hephaestus, god of fire and blacksmiths. Leo has to live alone due to his mother dying when he was so young. So Leo has to go on a quest with Piper and Jason to save Hera . So he has to rebuild a dragon that was cursed, built by his cabin at camp halfblood that went haywire. Jason • Jason has a huge problem. He can’t remember who he is. He is the son of Zeus but he knows all the gods as there Roman form. So he pictures Zeus as Jupiter. Jason has to lead the quest to save Hera. He faces many challenges along the way but his friends always help him through it.
Plot • Jason appears on a bus going to the Grand Canyon. He is apparently with his two friends. • Jason, Piper, and Leo find out they’re demigods. • They are all sent on a quest to save Hera. They start at the north wind gods palace. • They then travel to a car factory where they fight Cyclops. • Then they go to a store were Medea tries to kill them. • After that they go to Midas’ palace were they all turn to gold. • They then go to fight the giant Enceladus to save Piper’s dad. • Finally they go to the wolf house to save Hera, and defeat the giant king Porphrion.
Conflict/Resolution • Jason vs. Porphrion the giant king • Jason has to fight the giant king to stop him from killing Hera, so that Olympus will be protected. • Piper vs. Encleadeus the giant • During the story Pipers dad is captured by the giant Encleadeus, so piper and her friends have to defeat Enceladus, and save her dad. • Leo vs. himself • Leo struggles along this long journey. He does not feel right ever since his mother died. All he does is take it out on himself for everything that goes wrong. • Resolution • Along this journey everyone faces their enemies and problems to end up saving Hera.
Theme • The theme of this story is to never give up. • No matter how hard something is you can never give up. You always have to keep trying. • this theme best sets the story because in the story they thought all was lost, but they never gave up, and they ended up saving Hera.
Personal Book Review • I very much enjoyed the book The Lost Hero. It is filled with action and some comedy along the way. This book contains Greek and Roman mythology. This fast paced adventure book is great for fans that like Rick Riordan. I would recommend this book to anyone since it is so much fun to read. On a scale of one to ten, I would give it a ten.
