Background to classification changes • reason for the shift towards the 8 Level in the new PACCT Agreements for 2010 onwards? • the Better off Overall Test (BOOT) that future PACCT Agreements need to pass, in order to be ratified by Fair Work Australia. • 5 category structure does not have descriptors and does not pass this test.
From a 5 to 8 level award structure • In 2003, the PACCT Award 1999 included an 8 Level Broad banded classification • However until recently the pre 2003 PACCT Award classification structure has been used in PACCT Agreements • This consisted of 5 employment categories • Administrative Officer, Technical Officer, Computer Officer, Library Officer and Counselling Services Officer
From a 5 to 8 level award structure • 8 level structure has descriptors for 6 dimensions • these dimensions must be considered when classifying individual positions • Task Level • Judgement & Problem Solving • Supervision & Independence • Organisational Relationship & Impact • Interpersonal Skills • Education, Training & Experience • positions will meet criteria under each dimension for classification into that level
PD Wizard – functions • manage pd development and revision process across the organisation • developing • updating • approval • storage and access • access and modify an existing pd or • start a new pd • different user levels depending on responsibilities
PD Wizard – features • step by step process • tools to assist you to develop pds • questions to assist you develop content • glossary of common verbs • key terms for differentiating classification levels, eg. for organisational relationship & impact - "provide general information/advice" first appears in PACCT Level 2 and "negotiate" first appears in PACCT Level 6
