TROOP 810 Leadership Position DescriptionSENIOR PATROL LEADER • GENERAL INFORMATION: • Elected by members of the troop to represent the troop as the main boy leader of the troop • Holds position for 6 months • Reports to and takes direction from Scoutmaster (Assist Scoutmaster’s) • SPL should attend all troop activities • He appoints other troop leaders and must chose those that are right for the job – not friends or “popular” scouts • QUALIFICATIONS: • Preferred to be Star scout or higher • Previous experience as SPL, ASLP, PL or ASL and attend JLT training • Attendance record of at least 75% of all activities for previous 6 months • PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: • Must attend the troop JLT training • Attend 85% or more of all Troop meetings, PLC meetings, outings and service projects • Do your Best • GENERAL REPONSIBILITIES: • Uniform: Set example by wearing uniform correctly • Behavior: Set example by living the Scout Oath and Law everyday in every way – show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do • Attendance: Set example by being an active Scout – be on time for meetings/activities –Let Scoutmaster know if you cannot attend and make sure the ASPL is ready to take on your responsibilities • SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL: • Run all troop meetings, events, activities and planning meetings • Run Patrol Leader Council meetings • Appoint other Troop junior leaders with advice/counsel of Scoutmaster • Assign duties and responsibilities to junior leaders • Assist Scoutmaster with Junior Leader Training • Make phone calls to ASPL and Patrol leaders as required (camping trips, meetings plans and preparation, etc.) expect to make calls as often as one time a week • Attend Troop and/or council leader training CAMPOUT:

TROOP 810 Leadership Position DescriptionASSISTANT SENIOR PATROL LEADER • GENERAL INFORMATION: • Appointed by SPL (with advice of Scoutmaster) • Holds position for 6 months • Reports to and takes direction from SPL (Scoutmaster and Asst. Scoutmasters) • ASPL should attend all troop activities • He is the second highest ranking leader in the troop and acts as the SLP when the SPL is not in attendance or when called upon to act as SPL by an adult leader • He provides leadership to other junior leaders in the troop and should be familiar with the positions and the work being done by other junior leaders • QUALIFICATIONS: • Preferred to be First Class or higher • No previous experience • Attendance record of at least 75% of all activities for previous 6 months • PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: • Must attend the troop JLT training • Attend 80% or more of all Troop meetings, PLC meetings, outings and service projects • Do your Best • GENERAL REPONSIBILITIES: • Uniform: Set example by wearing uniform correctly • Behavior: Set example by living the Scout Oath and Law everyday in every way – show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do • Attendance: Set example by being an active Scout – be on time for meetings/activities –Let Scoutmaster know if you cannot attend and make sure that someone is ready to take on your responsibilities • SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL: • Helps the SPL lead meetings and activities • Runs the troop when the SPL is not available • Helps train and supervise the Troop Scribe, Quartermaster, Instructor, Librarian, Historian and Chaplain Aide • Serves as member of the Patrol Leader’s Council • Attend troop or council leader training CAMPOUT:

Scoutmasters) • Patrol Leaders should attend as many troop activities as possible • He leads and represents his Patrol • This is a very important job in the troop because he is main person to help and guide the scouts in his patrol – the Patrol Leader with the SPL and ASPL are the main members of the Patrol Leaders Council • QUALIFICATIONS: • Preferred to be First Class or higher • No previous experience • Attendance record of at least 75% of all activities for previous 6 months • PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: • Must attend the troop JLT training • Attend 80% or more of all Troop meetings, PLC meetings, outings and service projects • Do your Best • GENERAL REPONSIBILITIES: • Uniform: Set example by wearing uniform correctly • Behavior: Set example by living the Scout Oath and Law everyday in every way – show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do • Attendance: Set example by being an active Scout – be on time for meetings/activities –Let SPL or Scoutmaster know if you cannot attend and make sure that your Assistant Patrol Leader is ready to take on your responsibilities • SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL: • Appoints the Assistant Patrol Leader • Represents the Patrol at the Patrol Leaders Council • Plans and leads the Patrol meetings • Helps scouts learn skills and advance • Helps recruit new scouts • Keeps patrol members informed and gathers information for SPL/ASPL or adult leaders as needed (phone calls, emails, written information – expect to make phone calls as much as once a week, especially to scouts who missed meetings) • Knows that his patrol members and other leaders can do • Plans and runs troop meeting activities that are assigned – this includes Pre-Opening activities, Opening, Skill Instruction and Inter-Patrol activities/competitions • Attend troop or council leader training CAMPOUT:

TROOP 810 Leadership Position DescriptionASSISTANT PATROL LEADER • GENERAL INFORMATION: • Appointed by the Patrol Leader • Holds position for 6 months • Reports to and takes direction from Patrol Leader (Scoutmaster and Asst. Scoutmasters) • Assistant Patrol Leaders should attend as many troop activities as possible • He leads and represents his Patrol when his Patrol Leader is not available • The APL actively helps run his patrol and helps teach • QUALIFICATIONS: • No previous experience • Attendance record of at least 50% of all activities for previous 6 months • PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: • Must attend the troop JLT training • Attend 75% or more of all Troop meetings, PLC meetings, outings and service projects • Do your Best • GENERAL REPONSIBILITIES: • Uniform: Set example by wearing uniform correctly • Behavior: Set example by living the Scout Oath and Law everyday in every way – show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do • Attendance: Set example by being an active Scout – be on time for meetings/activities –Let SPL or Scoutmaster know if you cannot attend and make sure that your Assistant Patrol Leader is ready to take on your responsibilities • SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL: • Helps the Patrol Leader plan and run patrol meetings and activities • Helps the Patrol Leader keep patrol members informed by making phone calls, sending emails, etc. • Helps the patrol get ready for all troop activities • Represents his patrol at Patrol Leaders Council meetings when Patrol Leader cannot attend • Helps guide patrol, keep them on track and build patrol spirit • Assists Patrol Leader in planning and preparing for Troop Meetings as needed CAMPOUT:
