New Hope Community Church Praise team April 29th, 2012
Agenda • Taking Us To The Next Level • Song List • Commitment • Attendance • Attire • Questions
Taking Us To The Next Level • New Digital Mixer • More control of the overall sound • Control via an IPad • Ability to save mixer settings • Will avoid mixer resets after events • Better control of monitor mixes
Taking Us To The Next Level • HearBack system going away • New 16 channel digital personal monitor mixers • Ability to save your own monitor mix
Taking Us To The Next Level • New Shure In-Ear Monitors • Improved sound quality for musicians
Taking Us To The Next Level • New POD HD500 Guitar Pedal • High Definition guitar sounds • Most current technology
Taking Us To The Next Level • Backing/Click Tracks • Will be able to add additional sound to the band • Have to individually study the song structure • The computer will keep on going with or without the musicians • Music Books • Don’t leave them at the church • Keep them organized • Will avoid wasting time shuffling thru music when we should be practicing • Learning the songs ahead of time will reduce the need to be a “statue person” glued to the sheet music • Will allow for more eye contact with the congregation
Taking Us To The Next Level • Singers With Wireless Microphones • Movement around the stage and sanctuary is good • Interaction with the musicians adds excitement • Sound Check Before Practice • Sound engineers will make adjustments on the board to everyone’s signal one at a time • Set your instrument the way you intend to keep it • Sing into your microphone at your singing volume • Band will play together with vocals • Set your personal levels on the HearBack once everyone’s levels are set on the main mixer • Refrain from asking the sound engineers to make adjustments
Taking Us To The Next Level • Playing Etiquette • NEVER stop playing in the middle of a song • Avoid overplaying • Less is more • Tune your instrument before you play • Be mindful of the time limit we have for our part of the service when speaking
Song List • New Songs • Two per month • Being Prepared • Learning material before rehearsal is expected of all Praise Team members (this is standard practice) • Listen for song dynamics, song kick-off, key changes, breaks and general “feel” of the songs • We will not learn songs during practice • Being prepared demonstrates commitment and professionalism • Pattern of frequently being unprepared will result in dismissal from Praise Team • Weekly Song List Distribution • NHCC website
Attendance • On time for practice and service • Tardiness or un-announced absence affects the entire team • Be set up and ready to play on time • Don’t show up at the posted time and spend the next 15 minutes setting up • A pattern of frequent attendance issues will result in dismissal from the Praise Team
Commitment • Membership is a privilege • 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” • Be a servant, not a volunteer • We are called to a higher standard
Attire • Sunday Best • No jeans • If you wear jeans, you won’t play • Help your neighbor
