  1. The Lost and Found By: Mark Teague Strategy Focus: This adventure story has many twists and turns. When something surprising happens, stop and summarize to keep track of what you’ve read so far.

  2. What is a lost and found? • A place to keep lost items until owners come to find them. What places might have a lost and found? • School • Store • Movie Theatre • Office • Hospital

  3. Vocabulary • After Marty realized he had lost his glasses, he became worried. • Worried: concerned or anxious

  4. Vocabulary • Marty had to ask the sales clerk for directions to the lost and found. • Directions: lines or paths along which someone or something goes, lies, or points

  5. Vocabulary • Marty was shocked at some of the unusual items in the lost and found. • Unusual: not usual, not common

  6. Vocabulary • Marty saw many rumpled shirts in the bottom of the box. • Rumpled: wrinkled or creased

  7. Vocabulary • Marty thought back to the time when he lost his favorite truck and wondered why he always got into these situations. Situations: sets of conditions at certain moments in time

  8. Vocabulary • Marty found his glasses easily, since they were visible on the shelf. • Visible: able to be seen
