Welcome to Radicals!!! • Tonight’s Homework • P 490 #44- 51 • Head’s up: Radical quiz on Dividing tomorrow!
10.1: Simplifying Radical: Quotient Property • SWBAT simplify radicals using the quotient property
Review: Simplest Form of a Square Root Expression • An expression containing square roots is in simplest form when • The radicand has no perfect square factors other than 1 • The radicand has no fractions • There are no square roots in any denominator
Example 1 How do we get rid of the square root in the denominator? Multiply by a form of 1 to get a perfect-square radicand in the denominator.
Example 2 Simplify the quotient. All variables represent nonnegative numbers. Multiply by a form of 1 to get a perfect-square radicand in the denominator.
Exit Ticket Multiply. Write each product in simplest form. All variables represent nonnegative numbers. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Simplify each quotient. All variables represent nonnegative numbers. 8. 9.
